Professor Santanu Ray (FCA, CFA) is perhaps the only academic who has a strong presence in the corporate world. He is the Independent Director of 7 reputed Kolkata based companies like Century Ply, Star Cement, La Opala, Bharat Road Networks, SKP Securities and Genesis Exports, listed in the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange. He is also connected with the Shrachi Group as the Principal Adviser. Prof. Ray is a full time Senior professor, and Mentor to the Faculty of Management, Commerce & Economics at Sister Nivedita University. He is also the Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the University and is heading it’s Sports Management Department.
Starting his career as a 22 year old in Tata Steel (Tubes Division) in early 70s, Prof. Ray had an exponential rise in the company during his long tenure. Bitten by the academic bug, he left the corporate world to join ICFAI Business School as it’s Founder Director , a position he held for almost 10 years. Subsequently he worked as the Campus Director of NSHM Knowledge Campus, Director of Future Business School and as the Chief Mentor of Bengal Institute of Business Studies. Prof. Ray is a reputed author & researcher. He has written books on Creativity & Innovation, Valuation of Brands and Human Capital. He has authored several research papers on Strategy & Finance.
He has been a guest Faculty at Central Michigan University and Washington State University.
